Alabama State University’s College of Education invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator, Field & Clinical Experiences. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership in the coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of field and clinical experiences across educator preparation programs. This role is critical to ensuring alignment with state, national, and accreditation standards, including the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), CAEP, and SACSCOC requirements.
The Program Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of Field and Clinical Experiences while supporting candidate progression, partnership development, and data-driven program improvement. The Coordinator also plays a key role in Praxis II data monitoring and analysis, contributing to the College’s efforts to strengthen candidate readiness and licensure success.
The Coordinator serves as a liaison between the College of Education, P–12 school partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality clinical placements and continuous program improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and finalize field placements and student teaching assignments in collaboration with P–12 school district partners
- Maintain strong relationships with school personnel to support high-quality clinical experiences
- Oversee placement logistics for lab observations, internships, and student teaching
- Prepare and submit timely, accurate reports to meet requirements of CAEP, ALSDE, SACSCOC, and other accrediting bodies
- Ensure all field and clinical experience processes align with state and national standards
- Collect, analyze, and report Praxis II and Foundations of Reading (where applicable) data to monitor candidate performance trends
- Develop dashboards and data summaries to identify content-area strengths, gaps, and intervention needs
- Collaborate with faculty and leadership to inform targeted test preparation strategies and program improvements
- Track candidate progression toward licensure benchmarks and provide data to support decision-making at transition points
- Support CAEP Standard 3 reporting related to candidate quality, selectivity, and completion outcomes
- Screen and verify candidate eligibility for student teaching in accordance with Alabama Administrative Code and institutional requirements
- Support candidate readiness for exit assessments, including Praxis II and other certification requirements
- Provide data-informed guidance to candidates and advisors regarding testing progress and readiness
- Develop and maintain candidate-facing resources, including calendars, handbooks, and guidance materials
- Serve as the primary coordinator for the LiveText (or Watermark) Field Experience Module (FEM), including:
- Managing placement requests and approvals
- Entering and maintaining candidate data
- Troubleshooting system issues
- Generating reports for program evaluation and accreditation
- Support the implementation and coordination of edTPA or other performance-based assessments
- Plan and implement Pre-, Mid-, and Post-Internship seminars and professional development workshops
- Coordinate and support Teacher Education Admission and Internship Committee (TEAIC) meetings
- Contribute to programmatic events that support candidate development, clinical success, and licensure readiness
- Assist in coordinating teacher recruitment initiatives with school districts locally and nationally
- Strengthen partnerships that support clinical placements and employment pipelines
- Collaborate with faculty and support teams to implement Praxis II preparation initiatives, including workshops, tutoring, and structured study supports
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Field and Clinical Experiences office
- Ensure effective communication with candidates, faculty, supervisors, and school partners
- Maintain and distribute key documents, including the Field and Clinical Placements Handbook
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Education
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Business/Office Administration, Business Marketing Education or related field, 5 years of field and clinical experiences/administrative experience to include Office Management, working knowledge of LiveText/FEM modules, NCATE/CAEP, ALSDE, SACS reporting, and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required.
