Software Engineer, Platform Observability

As a Software Engineer, Platform Observability, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of tools and solutions that provide critical visibility and insights into the Akamai platform. You will work closely with engineering teams across Akamai to understand their needs and requirements, and then develop and deploy solutions that enable them to effectively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of the Akamai platform. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop tools and solutions that provide comprehensive observability and insights into Akamai's platform - Collaborate with engineering teams across Akamai to understand their needs and requirements, and then develop tailored solutions to address them - Implement and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues in the Akamai platform - Analyze platform data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization - Contribute to the ongoing evolution and improvement of Akamai's observability capabilities - Participate in on-call rotations and provide 24/7 support for critical platform issues Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field - 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building observability and monitoring solutions - Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Java - Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and containerization technologies - Experience with metrics collection, analysis, and visualization tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to dive deep into complex technical issues - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
