A Cleaning Supervisor oversees cleaning staff, ensures high standards of hygiene, manages schedules, and maintains safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Supervise and coordinate cleaning staff, assign tasks, and ensure all areas are cleaned effectively and efficiently
- Training and Development: Train new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols; provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
- Scheduling: Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all cleaning tasks
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleaning standards are met and client expectations are satisfied
- Inventory Management: Maintain and order cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage and availability
- Safety Compliance: Enforce health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment
- Customer Interaction: Address client complaints or special requests promptly to maintain satisfaction
- Administrative Duties: Maintain records of staff attendance, completed tasks, incidents, and performance evaluations
- Hiring and Performance Management: Participate in recruitment, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions for cleaning staff
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Leadership Skills: Ability to manage, motivate, and coordinate a team effectively
- Attention to Detail: Ensure all cleaning tasks meet high standards and no areas are overlooked
- Communication Skills: Clear interaction with staff, clients, and management
- Knowledge of Cleaning Procedures: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and hygiene standards
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve operational or client-related issues efficiently
- Physical Stamina: Capable of performing or supervising physically demanding tasks, including walking, bending, and lifting equipment.
Work Environment and Reporting
- Environment: Primarily in cleaning settings such as offices, hotels, hospitals, or schools; physically demanding
- Reporting Structure: Typically reports to a Facility Manager or Operations Manager
