Senior Software Engineer, Database Infrastructure Service What you'll do: - Design, implement, and operate database infrastructure and services that power Airbnb's global business - Collaborate with database administrators, site reliability engineers, and other software engineers to create robust and scalable database solutions - Enhance database performance, security, and reliability - Contribute to the evolution of Airbnb's data strategy and technical architecture - Mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge and best practices Who you are: - 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with strong expertise in database technologies and infrastructure - Proficient in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, etc.) - Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Elasticsearch) - Strong understanding of database concepts, including indexing, partitioning, replication, and failover - Ability to design and implement highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant database systems - Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team
