Job Description – Air Freight Manager (US Operations – Night Shift)
Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced and proactive Air Freight Manager to handle end-to-end US Air Export & Import Operations during night shifts. The ideal candidate will oversee operations, customer service, airline coordination, documentation, shipment tracking, team management, and escalation handling while ensuring smooth freight movement and high customer satisfaction.
The candidate should possess strong knowledge of international air freight processes, airline regulations, customs procedures, and US logistics operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management- Handle end-to-end air freight shipments (Export & Import)
- Coordinate with airlines, overseas agents, customers, truckers, and customs brokers
- Monitor shipment movement from booking until final delivery
- Ensure timely execution of consolidation and deconsolidation activities
- Manage urgent and priority shipments efficiently
Documentation & Compliance- Verify and approve:
- MAWB / HAWB
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- AES Filing
- SLI
- Customs documents
- Ensure compliance with:
- TSA regulations
- IATA guidelines
- US Customs requirements
- DG cargo regulations
Customer Service- Handle client communication during US business hours
- Provide shipment updates and milestone tracking
- Resolve customer escalations promptly
- Maintain strong relationships with overseas agents and clients
Team Management- Lead and supervise the night shift operations team
- Allocate work and monitor team productivity
- Conduct training sessions for new team members
- Ensure SOP adherence and process accuracy
- Monitor KPIs and operational performance
Vendor & Airline Coordination- Negotiate freight rates with airlines and vendors
- Coordinate space booking and cargo uplift
- Ensure proper carrier selection based on transit time and cost efficiency
Reporting & Performance Monitoring- Prepare daily operational MIS reports
- Monitor:
- TAT
- Shipment delays
- Cost control
- Profitability
- Customer KPIs
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
RequirementsEducational Qualification- Any Graduate
- MBA in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
- Certification in IATA / DG Handling will be an added advantage
Experience- 5–10 years of experience in Air Freight / Freight Forwarding
- Minimum 2–3 years in a team handling or supervisory role
- Experience in US process/night shift operations preferred
