Experience Level: Mid-Level (4+ Years) with strong hands-on experience in Backend Engineering and building AI-powered applications using LLMs, AI Agents, RAG, and MCP.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced AI Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript and hands-on experience developing intelligent applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs).
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in AI agent development, multi-agent workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), tool calling, and Model Context Protocol (MCP). The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing scalable AI backend services that can reason, retrieve enterprise knowledge, invoke external tools, and execute complex workflows
What is expected out of you?
As a part of this Job
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Build and integrate LLM-powered applications using OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or equivalent platforms.
- Develop AI Agents and multi-agent workflows for business use cases.
- Design and implement RAG pipelines, including embeddings, retrieval, and vector search.
- Integrate vector databases such as Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Milvus, or pgvector.
- Implement tool calling and external API integrations for AI agents.
- Develop and integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and tools.
- Build REST APIs and integrate databases and enterprise systems.
- Implement prompt engineering, context management, structured outputs, and AI guardrails.
- Ensure AI services are scalable, reliable, secure, and production-ready.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver AI solutions.
Requirements:
Must-to-Have Skills
- 4-8 years of experience in Backend Engineering / Software Development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and Generative AI applications.
- Strong experience building AI Agents / Agentic Workflows.
- Hands-on experience with RAG and vector databases.
- Experience with MCP and/or AI tool integrations.
- Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, databases, Git, and cloud platforms.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, context management, and LLM integration.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience building production-grade enterprise AI applications.
- Experience developing custom MCP servers/tools.
- Experience with multi-agent architectures.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud deployment.
- Python experience for AI/ML integrations.
- Knowledge of LLM evaluation, observability, and AI security/guardrails.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
