About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Systems Engineer (GenAI) to join our team as an individual contributor. The ideal candidate will possess a hands-on approach and a proven track record in designing, developing, and operating production-grade Generative AI systems, including both text and image modalities. This role involves translating complex business problems into scalable, efficient, and reliable AI solutions that deliver tangible value. The AI Systems Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of projects, building robust back-end systems, and integrating AI models within cloud environments, primarily on AWS. The candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, domain experts, and downstream engineers, to ensure seamless deployment and ongoing optimization of AI solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI technology, contributing to innovative projects that impact a wide range of industries and clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Generative AI technologies and cloud infrastructure. Candidates must possess at least one year of experience owning and operating production GenAI or ML systems, demonstrating the ability to develop scalable back-end services with clear SLIs/SLOs. Proficiency in Python, along with experience in TypeScript, Go, or Java, is required. Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is essential. Familiarity with AWS services—including IAM, KMS, networking, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code—is mandatory. Knowledge of vector databases, data modeling (SQL/NoSQL), and event-driven architectures will be advantageous. Strong understanding of observability practices, including logging, metrics, traces, and incident response, is necessary. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Own problems end-to-end by translating business goals into technical plans, designing pragmatic solutions, and delivering production systems with measurable impact.
- Design and implement backend APIs and microservices (REST/gRPC) tailored for GenAI workloads, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Containerize applications and orchestrate services using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS to facilitate deployment and management.
- Leverage AWS cloud services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and CloudWatch to train, host, and integrate AI models effectively.
- Develop multi-modal AI features, including text (LLMs, RAG) and image (VLMs, CV) functionalities such as retrieval, embeddings, fine-tuning, and evaluation pipelines.
- Implement observability practices by instrumenting logging, metrics, and traces, building dashboards, and establishing SLOs/SLIs to monitor system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure model and data safety through offline/online evaluations, A/B testing, guardrails, red-teaming, and compliance checks.
- Establish automated deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and CodePipeline, along with infrastructure as code frameworks such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, document architecture thoroughly, support product launches, and iterate based on data-driven insights.
