About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Founding Engineer to join our core team at Fulkrum. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the agentic systems that underpin our operations. Your work will directly impact how we source, onboard, and engage domain experts across various fields such as Consulting, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Accounting, Legal, and Finance. You will also develop internal tooling, automate quality assurance processes, and streamline data operations to ensure our workflows are efficient, scalable, and reliable. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a fast-growing startup, take ownership of end-to-end outcomes, and contribute to the future of AI training infrastructure.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess 2–5 years of experience in software engineering, preferably within a fast-paced startup environment or roles involving broad ownership. Experience with building workflows, agents, or automation pipelines powered by large language models (LLMs) using tools such as LangChain, CrewAI, or similar frameworks is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable translating vague or complex problems into functional systems with minimal guidance and have strong opinions about tooling and system architecture, with the ability to articulate trade-offs clearly. A background in developing scalable, reliable software solutions and a passion for AI technology are essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain expert sourcing operations, including outreach, qualification, onboarding, and ongoing engagement strategies for domain experts across multiple sectors.
- Create internal dashboards, pipelines, and integrations that enable a small team to operate with the efficiency and leverage of a much larger organization.
- Automate quality assurance processes such as rubric evaluation, gold-standard checking, and audit trails to embed quality as a systemic property rather than manual tasks.
- Design and implement data operations workflows that automate the assignment, review, and delivery of expert-annotated datasets at scale.
- Conduct research and development efforts focused on training small language models using expert datasets, contributing to the evolution of our AI capabilities.
