Role Overview
We are hiring a Founding AI Engineer – Agents Infrastructure to design and scale the core systems that power CallSphere’s AI agents. This role focuses on the infrastructure layer behind chat and voice agents: orchestration, tool execution, memory, evaluation, and production reliability.
This position is well-suited for candidates seeking long-term growth in the U.S. We actively support OPT/CPT internships with a clear path to full-time employment and future visa sponsorship based on performance and business needs.
As a founding engineer, you will have direct influence over architectural decisions, product direction, and engineering standards.
What You’ll Build & Own
- Core agent infrastructure for chat and voice AI systems
- Agent orchestration, routing, and tool-calling frameworks
- Memory systems (session + long-term), grounding, and summarization
- Integration layers connecting agents to databases, APIs, scheduling, payments, and internal tools
- Evaluation and monitoring pipelines for agent quality, safety, and regression testing
- Production systems optimized for latency, cost, observability, and fault tolerance
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable backend systems for agentic AI workflows
- Build reliable tool execution pipelines with retries, validation, and logging
- Optimize real-time agent performance across text and voice interactions
- Define standards for agent reliability, safety, and monitoring
- Collaborate closely with product and founders to ship production features
Required Qualifications
- Strong Python engineering experience
- Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered agents
- Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, async processing, and reliability
- Experience working with databases and external service integrations
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with real-time systems or conversational AI
- Familiarity with vector databases and retrieval systems
- Experience with FastAPI, background jobs, or cloud-native services
- Prior startup or early-stage engineering experience
