Highly experienced Linux / Edge Platform Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in building and maintaining customized Ubuntu-based images for Edge AI foundation platforms. Proven capability in creating bootable system images using SystemRescue and similar recovery/deployment tools, automating disk partitioning and image provisioning workflows, and enabling reliable installation, upgrade, and restoration processes for industrial edge servers.
Deep practical experience in managing layered open-source software stacks, including compiling and integrating libraries and frameworks with the appropriate build configurations to optimize for target GPU hardware. Not expected to be a deep application developer but highly effective at configuring, building, packaging, and troubleshooting performance-oriented platform dependencies across Linux environments.
Experienced in IoT and edge connectivity, including certificate-based device identity, secure communication, and device onboarding workflows. Comfortable generating bootable media, troubleshooting GRUB and bootloader issues, and recovering systems in field deployment environments.
Strong background in Linux system administration and operations, including system services configuration, systemd service management, journal log diagnostics, networking configuration, firewall setup, and system hardening.
Familiar with edge platform DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines for platform builds, automated image generation, artifact management, and controlled deployment pipelines.
Well suited for industrial Edge AI environments where reliability, repeatability, recoverability, and secure deployment are critical.
Core Responsibilities
• Build and maintain custom Ubuntu images for Edge AI platforms
• Develop automated disk partitioning and image deployment scripts
• Create bootable installation and recovery media using tools like SystemRescue
• Manage GRUB, initramfs, and Linux boot processes and troubleshoot boot issues
• Integrate and compile open-source libraries and frameworks optimized for GPU hardware
• Configure and maintain system services using systemd
• Diagnose and troubleshoot systems using journalctl and Linux logging tools
• Configure networking, routing, and firewall policies for edge devices
• Implement secure device identity using certificates and key management
• Support IoT connectivity and secure communication protocols
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for platform builds, packaging, and deployment
• Manage artifact repositories and versioned platform releases
• Implement licensing infrastructure and security mechanisms for edge servers
• Configure virus scanning and system hardening measures for deployed platforms
• Support field deployment troubleshooting and recovery workflows
