The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous AI & Data Automation Engineer based in India to join our dynamic global team. In this role, your primary mission will be web scraping and automated information retrieval. You will design, develop, and maintain sophisticated systems to extract rail, bus, and flight data from a wide variety of web-based sources.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a deep understanding of web technologies and a knack for overcoming obstacles in accessing and structuring publicly available travel-related data.
Working Style: This is a 100% remote position. While you can work from anywhere in India, you must be comfortable with a few hours of daily overlap with European timezones (CET) for team syncs and collaboration.Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Scraping Architecture: Design, develop, and implement advanced Python-based tools for large-scale, automated data collection from diverse web platforms.
- Browser Automation: Utilize tools like Selenium, Playwright, or Puppeteer to interact with dynamic, JavaScript-heavy web content and extract critical travel data.
- Bypass & Resiliency: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data extraction, including adapting to frequent website structure changes and bypassing advanced anti-bot mechanisms (e.g., Cloudflare, Akamai, Datadome, Captchas).
- Data Parsing & Structuring: Work with various data formats (HTML, JSON, XML, APIs) common in the travel industry and implement robust parsing techniques to turn raw web data into clean, structured datasets.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize data pipelines for speed, efficiency, and infrastructure cost to handle vast amounts of daily travel data.
- Collaborative Engineering: Collaborate with data analysts, product teams, and other global engineers to understand travel data needs and deliver high-quality datasets.
Required Qualifications
- Proven Scraping Experience: 3+ years of experience developing and deploying production-grade Python applications specifically for web scraping and information gathering.
- Automation Stack: Strong proficiency with browser automation libraries (Playwright or Selenium) and scraping frameworks (Scrapy, Beautiful Soup, Requests).
- Anti-Bot Navigation: Demonstrable experience in navigating complex online environments, proxy management, session rotation, and overcoming anti-scraping walls.
- Web Fundamentals: Solid understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM manipulation, HTTP/S protocols, and browser developer tools.
- Code Quality: Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent professional-level English (both written and verbal) for seamless collaboration with a remote global team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience scraping data within the travel, aviation, or public transportation sectors.
- Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and version control (Git).
- Experience leveraging LLMs or AI-driven parsing techniques to handle unstructured web data.
