SUMMARY
Protects and safeguards all hotel guests and associates, their belongings and all hotel assets. Respond rapidly to requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance in a professional manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the efficient and professional running of the Security department.
- Provide gracious hospitality towards all customers. Be highly familiar and adhere to all policies, procedures and standards.
- Recognize and report safety hazards
- Effectively handle any security related incidents or emergency situations which arise on shift.
- Immediately respond to emergency medical situations as a First Responder.
- Ensure compliance with hotel and security SOP/LSOP
- Observe and report any security breaches
- Oversee responsibility of Key control systems.
- Conduct daily physical hazard inspections and daily patrols and complete all reports
- Assist all associates with questions, problems which might occur.
- Report to work on time with proper uniform, including name tag. Personal appearance must comply with the standard uniform of the hotel.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the products, including hotel rooms, type of rooms, amenities, services of hotels, etc.
- Develop knowledge about frequent guests and their special requests and needs.
- Be familiar with cultural differences in order to meet all different customer needs.
- Have PMS and Saflok skills, Security systems and Fire Systems.
- Be able to work according to budget; keep constant eye on staffing level and control costs.
- Be knowledgeable about etiquette and protocols.
- Be familiar with all emergency plans and be able to act upon them.
- Use your PMS password with discretion; always log off terminal when not working. Control that all associates are also doing that.
- Have a good knowledge about the city and the environment.
- Report any unusual occurrences immediately to the Asst. Rooms Division Manager.
- Knowledge of Marriott/Hilton and AHC's Loss Prevention Standard Operating Procedures
- At all times strive to represent the AHC in the most professional, courteous manner.
- Create a productive and positive atmosphere throughout the hotel; have a good relationship with all associates and other departments.
- Ensure that all safety and security supplies are well maintained.
- Complete work or special projects as assigned and make sure to meet due dates.
- Participate with the Safety Committee that will educate and communicate throughout hotels.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License with 3 points or less.
- Must be able to walk and stand for upwards of 8 hours.
- Must be able to ride a bicycle for bicycle patrol during warmer months.
- Must be able to read and write reports
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in related field preferred
- Fire, Police or Security related experience is preferred.
- AED/CPR/1st Aid Training preferred.
- Tips/Safe Alcohol Serving certification is preferred.
- Experience in Microsoft Office programs preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Is regularly required to stand, walk, and run.
- Must be able to be on one's feet up to 8 hours per day.
- Is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.
- Is required to frequently reach with hands and arms.
- Is regularly required to talk or hear, taste, or smell.
- Is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
- Pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, upward reaching and lifting 50+ pounds are required for this position.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
