Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Agronomist with strong exposure to hydroponics, land farming, and island farming operations. The candidate will be responsible for managing crop production, improving farming techniques, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices, and supporting overall farm productivity across island-based farming environments in the Maldives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee day-to-day agricultural and farming operations.
- Develop and implement hydroponic farming systems and best practices.
- Monitor crop health, irrigation systems, nutrient management, and pest control.
- Plan and supervise land farming and island farming activities.
- Conduct soil, water, and nutrient analysis to improve crop yield and quality.
- Ensure sustainable and climate-appropriate farming practices suitable for island conditions.
- Coordinate planting schedules, harvesting plans, and crop rotation activities.
- Supervise farm workers and provide technical guidance/training.
- Maintain farming records, production reports, and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Work closely with management to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
- Support implementation of modern agricultural technologies and innovations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in agronomy and farming operations.
- Strong hands-on experience in hydroponics farming is mandatory.
- Exposure to land farming and island farming environments.
- Good understanding of irrigation systems, fertilizers, crop nutrition, and pest management.
- Ability to work independently in remote/island environments.
- Strong problem-solving and operational management skills.
- Good communication and team management abilities.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience working in tropical or coastal agricultural environments.
- Knowledge of sustainable farming and greenhouse/polyhouse operations.
- Willingness to relocate and work in the Maldives.
