Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pipavav, India, for an Assistant General Manager (AGM) or Deputy General Manager (DGM) specialising in dredging operations. Key responsibilities include overseeing dredging projects, planning and optimising operations, managing budgets, monitoring project performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, addressing technical challenges, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure project success.
Dredging Operations
- Develop a dredging schedule to maintain a required depth level for berths, dry docks, floating docks, slipways and navigation channels
- COnduct hydrographic survey to assess sediment accumulation levels and identify critical areas requiring dredging
- Collaborate with marine engineers, surveyors and port authorities to determine optimal dredging strategies
- Utilise bathymetric charts, sonar scans and sediment sampling techniques to monitor underwater topography and sediment movement.
- Oversee operation of dredgers, including cutter-suction dredgers, trailing suction hopper dredgers, backhoe dredgers and grab dredgers.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in dredging operations, project management, and operational optimisation
- Proficiency in technical aspects such as equipment maintenance and project cost estimation
- Strong organisational and planning skills, including resource management and cost control
- Experience with regulatory compliance and safety protocols within the maritime or heavy industry sectors
- Effective leadership, team management, and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to work on-site and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in large-scale maritime or industrial projects is a strong advantage
