About the role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain ELT pipelines using Snowflake and the AWS data ecosystem. This role requires strong SQL expertise, performance tuning capabilities, and a deep understanding of end-to-end SDLC processes. The ideal candidate should be familiar with Agile/Scrum practices and capable of delivering high-quality, production-ready data solutions. Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ Job Type: Full-time, On-site (3-5 days per week in the office) Contract Type: Independent Contractor Duration: Long-term Responsibilities Design, build, and manage scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Snowflake, AWS Glue, S3, and other AWS services; Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformation logic; Implement data quality rules, validations, and error handling in data pipelines; Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand data requirements; Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of data workflows; Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies – sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos; Perform unit testing, code reviews, and maintain documentation for all solutions; Support and improve existing data processes, and participate in continuous performance tuning. Requirements 3+ years of experience in data engineering or ELT/ETL development; Strong expertise in Snowflake, including query optimization, Snowpipe, and data modeling; Proficiency in writing, testing, and debugging complex SQL queries; Experience with AWS services: S3, Glue, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc; Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and CI/CD practices; Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies; Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Bonus points for Experience with Airflow, or other orchestration tools; Knowledge of Python or PySpark for data manipulation; Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
