The position

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKES, Kenya) operates 5 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both national and international curricula. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.

The position holder will be based at our Aga Khan School, Mombasa (AKS, Mombasa).

Position: Marketing and Communications Associate.

Role Summary.

Supporting the development and execution of marketing and communications strategies. This role involves creating content, managing social media, assisting with events, and analyzing campaign performance, to enhance brand awareness and engage target audiences through various channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that data protection measures are in place and strictly adhered to at all events.
  • Lead on public facing marketing initiatives in consultation with the Line Manager.
  • Lead the three sections to allocate three open days per year, per school and two careers day, with the key responsibilities of managing, planning and marketing being a key role.
  • Working with AKS, Mombasa and occasionally the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, to promote, support or be integrally involved in events hosted at the school i.e. sports or swimming galas.
  • Capture photography and/or videography of key events at AKS, Mombasa, and occasionally at other venues outside the school as required.
  • In time, work this Aga Khan School, Mombasa to update the section on our website about the school.
  • Ensure that AKS, Mombasa events are adequately branded and that all public-facing communication e.g. letters, certificates, trophies, etc. have been approved by the line manager.
  • Assist with guidance on branding, communications and publication of events,
  • Support Central Office to coordinate media events, invites and updates in Mombasa.
  • Help create guidelines for different programmes as the schools require i.e. Mental Health and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene etc.
  • Maintain a database and repository for videography and photography taken.

The requirements

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communication or digital media.
  • At least 2 years working experience.
  • Experience in a school setup will be an added advantage.
  • Adobe Suite certification or proven work experience.
