Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and talented aerodynamics lead to join our team. As aerodynamics lead engineer, you will be responsible for the development of our Hybrid VTOL aircraft's aerodynamic design and performance. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure compliance with design requirements, safety regulations, industry standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the aerodynamics team in the design, simulation, and testing of aircraft aerodynamic performance.
Develop and implement aerodynamic design strategies for Hybrid VTOL aircraft, focusing on optimization for both vertical and forward flight.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including propulsion, structures, controls and systems engineering) to integrate aerodynamic designs with other aircraft components.
Oversee wind tunnel testing and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to validate and refine aerodynamic models.
Contribute to the aircraft's overall design philosophy, ensuring aerodynamic efficiency is balanced with other performance criteria.
Ensure all aircraft designs meet the required aerospace standards and regulations (DGCA, FAA, EASA, etc.). Coordinate with regulatory bodies for certification processes
Stay abreast of the latest aerodynamics research and technologies, integrating best practices and innovations into our design process.
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of all necessary documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and certification documents.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerodynamics, with a strong focus on aircraft design and optimization.
Proven track record in leading aerodynamics projects, preferably in the aircraft, VTOL or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) sectors.
Expertise in aerodynamic simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM) and wind tunnel testing methodologies.
Strong understanding of hybrid propulsion systems and their integration with aerodynamic designs.
Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
