Job Summary


Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Relations will be a part of the team that develops and implements the organisation's strategic communications and PR strategy, crafting the brand narrative that contributes towards reputation building, positive perception, brand affinity and efficient stakeholders management, aligned with the organisational business goals and purpose, competitive edge, while highlighting our Customer Value Proposition (CVP) and Unique Selling Proposition (USP) among key stakeholders.



Job Responsibilities


Media Relations, Reputation Building & Thought Leadership


  • Assist to execute the PR and media strategy in order to increase positive Share of voice (SoV), secure good news coverage and mitigate reputational risks. It includes drafting the press releases, media alert, media statement, media kits, briefing documents and other relevant materials.
  • Assist to foster positive relationships between AEON Bank and media editors, journalists, news outlets, relevant content creators, as well as co-manage the appointed spokesperson/media liaison for media interviews.
  • Collaborate with internal team/subject matter experts to develop the right narrative, compelling content and visual assets for relevant campaigns and initiatives.
  • Work together with the PR agency and any other agency/project partner in rolling out the strategy, in order to achieve the objective and goals.


Copywriting and Translations


  • Assist to develop the narrative, key messaging and creative concepts, based on the understanding, insights and comprehensive research on industry trends, target audiences and competitors.
  • Write compelling and concise copy in English and BM for a variety of channels and purposes, including communications materials such as press release, media statement, mobile app and website content, LinkedIn captions, copywriting for PR campaigns, crisis communications, speeches, scripts, interview key pointers, newsletter, report and more.
  • Translate communications materials from English to BM and vice versa. Ability to converse and write in other languages would be an advantage.
  • Ensure that all copywriting materials in English and BM are accurate, grammatically correct and adheres to AEON Bank CI Brand Guidelines and tone of voice, as well as edit and proofread copy to ensure high quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders on the development of content storytelling and communications materials.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in copywriting and digital content.



Strategic PR & External Communications


  • Assist to conceptualise and execute the strategic communications strategy to strengthen the brand reputation, enhance brand visibility, secure TOMA (top of mind awareness), aligned with organisational goals, purpose, mission and vision, CVP and USP, as well as working together with the team for crisis mitigations.
  • Assist to identify key communication priorities, target audiences, and channels to maximise reach and impact.
  • Assist to develop, enhance and safeguard AEON Bank Corporate Identity (CI) Brand Guideline. Ensure accuracy and alignment with relevant departments/teams in the creation of the brand related assets and collaterals featuring our logo and CI.
  • Assist to manage the effort to position AEON Bank as a thought leader in FinTech industry and Islamic banking/financial sector by supporting the official spokespersons/senior leadership in thought leadership speaking engagements (conference, roundtable, summit, etc) and stakeholder management events.
  • Assist to collaborate with the appointed PR agency to continuously monitor industry trends, competitive landscape and emerging issues to inform communication strategies and tactics, as well as measure the effectiveness of PR campaigns, leveraging on data and insights to optimise upcoming activation.


Stakeholder Engagement and Community Impact Initiative


  • Assist to support stakeholders engagement effort and foster a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders including the customers, investors and partners.
  • Assist in planning and implementing CSR or community impact initiatives with identified NGO/Non-Profit Organisation in support of community in need.


Creative artworks, photography and videography


  • Collaborate with the relevant teams to conceptualise and visualise relevant creative content.
  • Work together with the in-house photographer/videographer/editor to ensure the best outcome for the images/photos/videos taken for the Bank.


Corporate Merchandise and Administrative Duties


  • Assist to manage the design creation and inventory stock management of the AEON Bank corporate merchandise.
  • In charge of the administrative tasks, value-added collaborations and payment related coordination for PR and Corporate Communications Dept.
  • Ad hoc tasks, as and when required.



Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Strategic Media, English Literature or related field.
  • Minimum of 5- 6 years of experience in corporate communication, public relations, media, journalism or related roles, with good exposure to both external communications and internal communications scope of work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to craft compelling narrative and engaging content for a diverse group of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with the media, as well as external and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in developing impactful storytelling, plus the ability to translate concepts into engaging visual narrative.
  • Well-versed in digital communication tools and platforms, including website content management system (CMS) and social media.
  • Attention to details, focus on quality and strong commitment in delivering high-quality work on time and within budget, as well as in coordinating administrative and creative tasks.
  • Highly organised self-starter with a positive attitude that is also a collaborative team player that is able to work as part of a team to arrive at the best creative solution.
  • Adaptable to changes, able to multitask and execute ad-hoc duties, while finding alternate solutions in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu, plus an added advantage if also fluent in other languages.
