Job details:
What We're Building
Kynetiq is building infrastructure for B2B inbound. One of our core bets is that AI search (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) is becoming a primary research channel for B2B buyers. The rules of what makes content get cited in AI-generated answers are completely unwritten. No Moz for AEO exists. No Ahrefs for GEO exists. The playbook is being written right now, in real time, by a handful of companies running real experiments.
Kynetiq is one of those companies. We're building the most comprehensive real-world AEO/GEO research dataset in the Indian B2B market. This role is at the center of that effort.
Why This Matters
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are in their 2008 SEO moment. Fifteen years ago, the companies that figured out Google's ranking factors early built empires. The same window is open right now for AI search. Except this time, the ranking factors are invisible, undocumented, and changing weekly.
Here's what we know: B2B buyers are already using ChatGPT and Perplexity as primary research tools. When a founder asks Perplexity "best CRM for early-stage B2B startups," the companies that get cited in that answer win. The companies that don't are invisible in the fastest-growing discovery channel in B2B.
Nobody has systematically studied what drives AI citations across different B2B categories in India. That's what you'll be doing.
What You'll Actually Do
Run Systematic AEO/GEO Experiments
- Design and execute experiments to understand what content structures, formats, and signals increase the probability of being cited in AI-generated answers.
- Test across engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude. Each has different citation behaviors. You'll map those differences.
- Track citation patterns over time. When a piece of content gets cited, what changed? When it stops getting cited, why? You're building the longitudinal dataset that answers these questions.
Build the AEO Research Corpus
- Document every experiment. Hypothesis, method, result, implication. This isn't academic research for a paper. This is operational research that feeds directly into how we build content systems for clients.
- Categorize findings by vertical. What works for fintech is different from what works for dev tools. You'll build vertical-specific AEO playbooks that become part of Kynetiq's product.
- Track AI engine updates. When Perplexity changes how it cites sources, or when ChatGPT modifies its browsing behavior, you're the first to notice and the first to document the impact.
Citation Gap Analysis for Prospects and Clients
- For every Kynetiq prospect, you'll run an AI citation audit. Where does their company get cited? Where does it not? Where do competitors get cited instead? This analysis feeds directly into the Preview Engine and into consulting engagements.
- Identify high-value citation opportunities. Queries where the prospect's category has weak AI coverage and where strategic content could win citation position.
Competitive Intelligence on AI Search
- Monitor what competitors and adjacent companies are doing in AEO/GEO. Who's publishing about it? What experiments are others running? Where is the industry's understanding still wrong?
- Track how AI search behavior differs in India vs US/EU markets. B2B search patterns, query language, category terminology. The Indian context layer is a core part of Kynetiq's moat.
Signal Layer Contribution
- Your research feeds Kynetiq's Signal Intelligence Engine. When you discover that a specific content structure increases Perplexity citation probability by 3x, that insight becomes a signal that triggers content generation for every Kynetiq client in the relevant category.
- You work closely with the product and growth teams to translate research findings into system-level rules. This is not research that sits in a doc. It becomes code.
What You Bring
- 2-4 years in SEO, content strategy, or search-related roles. You understand how search works at a technical level. You've done keyword research, on-page optimization, SERP analysis. You know what schema markup is. You've used Ahrefs or Semrush seriously, not just casually.
- You're obsessed with AI search. You've already noticed that Perplexity cites different sources than ChatGPT for the same query. You've wondered why. You've maybe even tested a few things on your own. You read every paper and blog post about AEO/GEO that comes out. If you haven't thought about this topic independently before seeing this job post, you're probably not the right fit.
- You think like a researcher, not just a practitioner. You can design an experiment with a clear hypothesis, controlled variables, and measurable outcomes. You document your work in a way that someone else could replicate it. You're rigorous without being slow.
- You can write. Not blog posts (our product handles that). Research documentation. Clear, structured analysis that other team members can act on. If you've published SEO case studies, research reports, or detailed analysis threads on LinkedIn or Twitter, that counts.
- You're comfortable with data tools. Spreadsheets at minimum. SQL is a bonus. You can pull data from APIs (or learn quickly). You can build a tracking system for experiments without needing an engineer to set it up.
Bonus points if:
- You've already published anything about AEO, GEO, or AI search optimization
- You've worked on B2B content strategy (not B2C or e-commerce SEO)
- You understand the Indian B2B search landscape and how it differs from US/EU
- You've used Perplexity API, DataForSEO, or similar tools programmatically
- You have opinions about whether traditional SEO signals (backlinks, domain authority) matter for AI citations
What You Get
Equity. This role is building one of Kynetiq's three core moats (the AEO Research Corpus). Your equity reflects that.
First-mover advantage in your career. There are maybe 50 people in the world who deeply understand AEO/GEO right now. In 3 years, every B2B company will need this expertise. You'll be one of the people who defined the field.
Research that matters. This isn't research that gets filed away. Every finding you produce changes how Kynetiq's product works. You'll see your insights become features, signals, and client results.
Tools access. You'll work with Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, Perplexity API, and Claude API daily. Full access, not free-tier limitations.
How This Role Evolves
- Month 1-3: Build the experiment framework. Run the first 20-30 AEO/GEO experiments. Document citation patterns across 3 AI engines for 5 B2B categories. Deliver your first citation gap analyses for prospects.
- Month 4-6: You've built the first version of the AEO playbook. Vertical-specific findings are feeding into client work. You're publishing research insights (with Kynetiq's brand) that establish Kynetiq as the authority on AI search in Indian B2B.
- Month 7-12: You own the AEO/GEO research function. The corpus is a genuine competitive asset. You're training the product team on how to automate your findings. You're speaking at SaaSBoomi or similar events about what you've discovered. You're the person other companies call when they want to understand AI search.
