Senior Consultant - Des Moines, IA
Join AE2S as a Senior Consultant in our Water practice and help grow and shape our presence in Des Moines, Iowa.
This role is well suited for a client‑focused professional who enjoys building trusted relationships with public agencies while helping expand AE2S’s presence in a growing regional market. As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in business development and local project delivery, overseeing project management efforts, developing proposals and presentations, and delivering high‑quality technical reports. You’ll also support municipal clients through financial and quantitative data analysis, including developing Excel‑based models to inform project decisions—all while collaborating with a well‑established, employee‑owned firm committed to long‑term client and community success.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and build strong relationships with public clients in support of project development and delivery
- Further company business development and marketing activities in the region
- Oversee local project management and delivery
- Draft and deliver technical reports, proposals, and presentations
- Collect and perform quantitative data analysis of municipal financial information
- Develop and prepare MS Excel based computer models in support of project analyses
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (engineering, finance, public affairs, or other related field)
- Proven problem-solving skills based on quantitative data analysis
- 8+ years of project management experience
- Ability to work independently on specific assignments
- 5+ years of experience with data analysis and large data sets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives
- Willing to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (engineering, finance, public affairs, or other related field)
- Experience working in a consulting or public government environment
- History working with team members across broad geographies
Physical Requirement
- Primary functions require physical ability and sufficient mobility to work in an office setting
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement
- Fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
