RFP of Advanced Embedded Engineer
Industrial Safety – “Safety That’s Always on the Lookout”
Accidental gas leaks pose a huge threat to properties, environment and human life. Therefore, Honeywell manufactures a full and comprehensive range of gas detection products dedicated to all types of industrial facilities, from smaller boiler rooms to large petrochemical plants and oil refineries.

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Embedded Engineer to join the Industrial Safety team, working on NPI project development. The role requires strong expertise in embedded system architecture, algorithm development, and digital signal processing (DSP), along with hands‑on experience delivering robust, high‑quality embedded solutions. End‑to‑end development experience in at least one full NPI lifecycle is required. Familiarity with relevant industrial and performance standards, including EN 60079‑29‑1, is desirable.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPOSIBILITIES:
- As part of Industrial Safety Engineering group, you will be one among the team designing new products for Industrial Safety Line of business with key focus on Fixed gas and Flame detection sensor solutions and Controllers
- Lead the development of embedded software and systems, ensuring they meet functional safety requirements. Design and implement new features in embedded platforms, managing the entire development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to implementation and testing.
- Develop and execute test plans for embedded software, including unit tests, integration tests, and system tests. Use automated testing frameworks and tools to ensure high test coverage and effective testing strategies. Analyze testing results to identify and resolve issues swiftly.
- Work with operations and supply chain to ensure manufacturability of the product and participate in production test equipment development and design transfer activities.
- Additional responsibilities include proof of concept firmware development, data acquisition software applications, technical report generation, documentation & progress reporting.
- Maintain high quality documentation of the entire design as required by quality organization.
- Perform hands-on work in the lab, as required.
Essential Skills
Strong proficiency in Embedded C programming for real ‑ time and resource ‑ constrained systems.
Proven experience in firmware development for ARM Cortex ‑ M3/M4 and ARMv7 architectures, using cross ‑ development environments such as IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, and MPLAB.
Hands ‑ on experience with industrial wired communication protocols including HART and Modbus, as well as wireless protocols such as BLE and IEEE 802.15.4.
Practical experience in developing and integrating device drivers and low ‑ level firmware components, including SPI, I2C, Watchdog Timers (WDT), Timers, and V4L where applicable.
Strong analytical and problem ‑ solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement algorithms using Python and/or MATLAB.
Ability to perform statistical data analysis using tools such as MS Excel, MATLAB, or Minitab.
Strong understanding of digital signal processing techniques and advanced mathematical concepts, including linear algebra, calculus, and statistical analysis
Experience in secure embedded system development, including implementation and deployment of product security requirements. Exposure to embedded web servers and scripting for configuration, diagnostics, or monitoring is required.
Proficiency with embedded debugging and trace tools such as J ‑ Link (JTAG) and J ‑ Trace (instruction tracing).
Experience in bootloader development, flash programming, and firmware upgrade mechanisms; understanding of secure boot concepts is desirable.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, with a minimum of 5 to 9 years of experience in new product development.
