Join Our Team as a Electrical Controls Engineer I

As an Electrical Controls Engineer I, you’ll play a key role in supporting our automation infrastructure by assisting with PLC programming, HMI development, and electrical control system design for our plastic extrusion and manufacturing processes.
This role works closely with the Electrical Controls Engineer, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our automated systems.
What You'll Do
· Assist in developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC and HMI software for manufacturing and support systems.
· Support the design and installation of new automation and control systems for plastic extrusion equipment.
· Develop electrical and control schematics using CAD-based software.
· Provide detailed documentation related to system operation, alarms, and operator interactions.
· Collaborate as part of an integrated engineering design team to meet project requirements and deadlines.
· Develop and maintain Process Control Specification Documents (PCSDs).
· Evaluate and propose alternative methods or procedures to support changing business and production needs.
· Communicate project progress, improvement opportunities, and technical issues clearly to stakeholders.
· Utilize computer-based tools daily to support engineering, documentation, and analysis tasks.

Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (Electrical or Mechanical).
· Prior experience in automation is a plus.
· Strong mechanical aptitude is beneficial but not required.
· Additional certifications or training may enhance advancement opportunities.
· Working knowledge of CAD-based programs (2D & 3D).
· Preferred experience or exposure to PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, RSLogix).
· Preferred knowledge of computer programming (HTML, Java).
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates in both manufacturing and office settings. You’ll regularly interact with mechanical systems and may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles. Physical demands include standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Travel between Sidney and Nashville locations may be required.
