As an Advanced Application Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and support to our customers. Responsibilities
Advanced Application Engineer:
- Advanced use of proprietary and open-source GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI) for spatial analysis and terrain database development.
- Processing and interpreting satellite imagery, Topographical maps, and UAV data for terrain modeling, land-use classification, and environmental monitoring.
- Designing, verifying, and validating terrain databases using multiple GIS/RS/IT tools and proprietary datasets.
- Handle satellite imagery, raster/vector datasets, and ensure timely data ingestion pipelines.
- Develop scripts and workflows for automated geospatial data processing using Python, R, or cloud-native tools.
- Manage the database structure and contents with the scope and size limitation of Various Terrain database products.
- Work with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver production-ready solutions.
- Implement testing, validation, and error-checking for geospatial applications.
- Proficiency in DEM/DTM generation, hydrological modeling, viewshed analysis, and 3D terrain visualization.
- Analyze and interpret complex geospatial data and remote sensing imagery to derive actionable insights.
- Implementing standards and validation protocols to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of geospatial datasets.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for production workflows and system configurations.
- Responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining geospatial applications and powerline data in production environments, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance through advanced GIS/RS tools, automation, and quality assurance workflows.y
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in computer science, Geography, Environmental Science , or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in GIS and Remote Sensing.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing applied to avionics safety systems, specifically Terrain database development.
- Expertise in terrain, runway and obstacle database creation , verification, and validation for flight safety systems.
- Skilled in integrating geospatial datasets with avionics applications to support terrain awareness and warning functions.
- Strong background in processing satellite imagery, LiDAR, and UAV data for accurate terrain and obstacle representation.
- Familiarity with aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements governing terrain database accuracy and reliability.
- Experience in creating, managing, and validating global transmission and distribution line datasets, including substations and towers.
- Proficiency in handling DEMs/DTMs for global terrain analysis, corridor mapping, and infrastructure planning.
- Ability to integrate and validate global obstacle datasets (buildings, towers, vegetation, mountains) for aviation safety, utility risk assessment, and geospatial modeling.
Additional/Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated expertise strong analytical and critical thinking, with proven ability to turn complex challenges into practical solutions.
- Knowledge of cartographical maps and Navigational charts.
- Knowledge of ARINC 424, DO200B and other aviation regulatory documents.
- Six sigma green belt certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global team environment.
