Role Description
Actuarial Science Expert – Agriculture & Crop Insurance
Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan
The Actuarial Science Expert for Agriculture & Crop Insurance designs, prices, and manages risk models for agri-insurance products like PMFBY, weather-index, and yield-based schemes by analyzing historical yield, IMD weather data, satellite imagery, and CCE data to set premiums, reserves, and payout structures that balance farmer protection with financial sustainability. The role involves building stochastic models for drought, flood, and climate risks, monitoring loss ratios and portfolio performance across crops and districts, ensuring IRDAI and government compliance, and collaborating with agronomists, underwriters, and state agencies to develop innovative, data-driven products for smallholder farmers.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Analytical Skills, Statistics, and Mathematics
- Knowledge in Finance, including financial modeling and risk assessment
- Excellent Communication skills to interpret and present quantitative data effectively
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with relevant software tools such as Excel, statistical software (e.g., R or Python), and financial modeling applications
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field; pursuing or completion of actuarial exams preferred
- Experience with public sector projects or infrastructure data is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, dynamic environment
