Law Clerk (part-time) | AcornsAcorns is seeking a motivated Law Clerk to join our team for the Fall Semester to manage the day-to-day legal response process related to court documents received by the organization, such as subpoenas, garnishments, liens, and other notices. In this role, you'll play a key part in handling information with high accuracy and security and ensuring that all requests are processed and responded to in a timely and compliant manner. This role has an expected time commitment of 15-20 hours/week and has the option to be remote within the United States or based in our Irvine, CA office. Work sponsorship is not available for this role, including Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), F-1 Visa program, and other visa sponsorships. Within 1 month, you will:Familiarize yourself with our company's technologies, tools, and legal processes, with mentorship supportComplete Acorns-led training specific to legal compliance processes and responsibilitiesLearn to identify different legal requests and how to properly respond to themJoin a motivated, mission-driven team Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain the Subpoenas Gmail inbox and ensure that all incoming requests are logged and processed appropriatelyCreate, organize, and maintain records of responsive documents within our Google Drive and ensure proper filing and accessibilityDownload and review incoming subpoenas or legal requests, input necessary details into the Subpoenas Log, and create corresponding folders in the Shared Drive for document storageCollect and prepare responsive documents, including but not limited to customer information, transaction history, IP logs, Zendesk tickets, and other relevant communicationsApply necessary watermarks and convert documents into PDF format and secure documents using appropriate encryption methodsUtilize pre-existing templates to prepare response letters and certificates of authenticitySend encrypted documents to the designated law enforcement agencies or legal entities via email, using predefined templates What you will bring to Acorns:Currently enrolled in a J.D. or L.L.M. programStrong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficientlyProficient in using Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs), Adobe PDF software, and familiar with basic encryption methodsExcellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracyGood communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretionHigh level of English proficiency, capable of understanding and drafting complex legal documents You are not expected to have experience with all listed requirements. Compensation Information:The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $25.00/hour. The position is part-time, with an expected time commitment of 15-20 hours per week.
