About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team in Vancouver. This role is ideal for a highly motivated accounting professional with strong IFRS expertise and significant experience in public company financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting audits, and improving financial reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Lead the preparation of financial reporting packages for management and external stakeholders.
• Assist with public company reporting requirements, including annual and interim financial statements, MD&A, and other regulatory filings.
• Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion of audit requests.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and corporate policies.
• Research and document complex accounting issues and prepare technical accounting memos.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
• Assist with business acquisitions, purchase price accounting, and other corporate finance initiatives as required.
• Develop and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in public company financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with IFRS.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements and supporting external audits.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
Nice to Have
• CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA).
• Experience with IFRS technical research and complex accounting transactions.
• Experience with consolidations, foreign currency accounting, and intercompany transactions.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or Oracle.
• Previous experience in a publicly listed company or public accounting firm.
