What we are looking for:-
We are seeking an Accountant Property Accounting to oversee financial management and reporting for a portfolio of real estate properties. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals and analytical skills, hands-on experience in property accounting, lease structures, reconciliations, and month-end close processes, while managing complex financial data and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and forecasts; monitor budget variances and provide detailed analysis and explanations for deviations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries for all property-related transactions, including rent, expenses, accruals, and capital expenditures.
- Oversee AP and AR processes for property transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.
- Prepare and review annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations in line with lease agreements and industry standards.
- Assist in property tax filings and coordinate with external tax consultants to ensure compliance.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor queries.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, ROI evaluation, and performance insights.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control within the property accounting function.
Requirements
- CA Qualified (most preferred).
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting, with relevant experience in property accounting.
- Minimum 1+ year of hands-on Yardi experience (must-have).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
You Must Have
- CA Qualified (preferred).
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with property accounting exposure.
- 1+ year of hands-on Yardi experience (non-negotiable).
- Solid grounding in GAAP and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Sharp analytical and communication abilities.
