About the Role
Shankar Shekhar & Associates is looking for a dedicated and responsible Accountant to join our team. The selected candidate will work closely with a startup client and will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting, statutory compliance, reconciliations, MIS reporting and financial analysis.
This position offers practical exposure to accounting, taxation, compliance, management reporting and Virtual CFO services.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day books of accounts in Tally.
- Record sales, purchases, receipts, payments, journal entries and other accounting transactions.
- Prepare and maintain supporting accounting records and documentation.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ledger scrutiny.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Assist in GST, TDS and other statutory compliances.
- Reconcile GST returns with books of accounts.
- Prepare periodic MIS and management reports.
- Assist in financial reporting, budgeting and cash-flow monitoring.
- Coordinate with clients for accounting information and supporting documents.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned work and compliance deadlines.
- Support senior team members in financial analysis and business advisory assignments.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Practical working knowledge of Tally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables and reconciliations.
- Understanding of GST, TDS and basic statutory compliances.
- Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial records.
Preferred Candidate
- Candidates with prior experience in a CA firm, accounting office or startup environment will be preferred.
- Freshers with strong accounting knowledge and a willingness to learn may also apply.
