About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage financial operations in the shipping and export-import sector. This role requires strong knowledge of international trade finance, compliance with Indian and global accounting standards, and the ability to handle cross-border transactions. The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, smooth audits, and compliance with statutory requirements while supporting business growth in both domestic and overseas markets.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind-AS) and IFRS.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Handle accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely closing of accounts and reporting to management.
Export-Import Documentation & Compliance
- Manage financial documentation related to shipping, customs, and international trade.
- Oversee Letter of Credit (LC), Bill of Lading, and other trade finance instruments.
- Ensure compliance with FEMA, GST, and customs regulations.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and government authorities for export-import transactions.
Taxation & Audit
- Handle GST, TDS, and other statutory filings.
- Support statutory, internal, and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with both Indian and overseas tax regulations.
Costing & Budgeting
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Monitor operational costs related to shipping and logistics.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
International Operations Support
- Manage multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange reconciliations.
- Coordinate with overseas offices for consolidated reporting.
- Ensure compliance with international accounting and trade practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Professional certification (CA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in shipping/export-import/logistics.
- Strong knowledge of trade finance, customs regulations, and international taxation.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with multinational companies or overseas operations.
- Familiarity with Ind-AS, IFRS, and global compliance frameworks.
- Exposure to shipping documentation and trade finance instruments.
