Job Description: Accountant – D2C E-commerce

About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant with experience in D2C e-commerce operations to manage the day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, compliance, and financial tracking for our growing kids personal care brand. The ideal candidate should be comfortable handling marketplace accounting, payment gateway reconciliations, GST compliance, inventory-linked accounting, and vendor management in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Bookkeeping
* Maintain accurate books of accounts in Tally/Zoho Books or similar accounting software
* Record sales, expenses, invoices, returns, refunds, and adjustments
* Manage accounts payable and receivable
* Prepare monthly MIS reports, P&L, and cash flow summaries
D2C & Marketplace Reconciliation
* Reconcile orders, settlements, commissions, returns, and deductions from platforms such as:
* Amazon
* Flipkart
* FirstCry
* Shopify
* Other D2C channels
* Reconcile payment gateways like Razorpay, Cashfree, PayU, etc.
* Identify discrepancies and coordinate with marketplaces/payment partners for resolution
GST & Compliance:
* Prepare and file GST returns accurately and on time
* Handle TDS, vendor invoices, and statutory compliance requirements
* Coordinate with CA and auditors during audits and filings
* Ensure compliance with e-commerce taxation norms
Inventory & Operational Accounting:
* Track inventory valuation and stock movement
* Coordinate with warehouse/logistics teams for inventory reconciliation
* Monitor COGS, margins, and operational expenses
* Assist in budgeting and financial planning
Vendor & Team Coordination:
* Manage vendor payments and expense tracking
* Coordinate with operations and marketing teams for campaign spends and invoices
* Maintain proper financial documentation and records
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
* min 2years of accounting experience, preferably in D2C e-commerce or consumer brands (MUST)
* Strong understanding of GST, TDS, and marketplace accounting
* Experience with Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, or similar tools
* Good Excel/Google Sheets skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and reconciliation handling
* Familiarity with Shopify and marketplace settlement reports is also REQUIRED
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Preferred Experience:
* Experience working with startups or fast-growing brands ( not mandatory but bonus)
* Understanding of inventory-based businesses and SKU-level tracking
* Prior experience handling high-volume order reconciliation
