Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Account Head to lead the complete accounts, finance, taxation, audit, GST, payables, receivables, and compliance functions of the company.
The person will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, timely statutory compliances, smooth audits, vendor payment controls, GST query resolution, MIS reporting, and coordination with internal teams, auditors, consultants, banks, and government authorities.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of accounting, GST, TDS, income tax, audit finalization, vendor reconciliation, banking, cash flow, statutory compliance, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance Management
- Manage the entire accounting function of the company, including day-to-day accounting, ledger scrutiny, reconciliations, provisions, closing entries, and finalization of books.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of books of accounts as per applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, MIS reports, profitability reports, cash flow reports, and management reports.
- Monitor company expenses, cost control, working capital, cash flow, fund planning, and financial discipline.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Handle all direct and indirect tax matters, including GST, TDS, income tax, professional tax, advance tax, and other applicable statutory compliances.
- Ensure timely filing of GST returns, TDS returns, professional tax returns, and other statutory returns.
- Review GST input tax credit, GST reconciliation, e-way bill/e-invoice compliance, and GST liability.
- Handle GST notices, GST queries, departmental correspondence, assessments, audits, and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and statutory authorities for compliance-related matters.
Audit & Finalization
- Lead statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, GST audit, and other audit processes.
- Coordinate with auditors and provide required data, schedules, reconciliations, and explanations.
- Ensure timely completion of annual accounts finalization, audit reports, tax audit reports, and related filings.
- Review depreciation, fixed assets, provisions, related party transactions, loans, advances, and balance confirmations.
Payables, Receivables & Vendor Management
- Supervise accounts payable, vendor bill checking, payment approvals, vendor reconciliation, and outstanding tracking.
- Ensure proper verification of purchase invoices, GST details, TDS applicability, supporting documents, and approval workflows before payment.
- Monitor customer receivables, ageing reports, follow-ups, collections, and reconciliation.
- Maintain strong control over vendor outstanding and ensure timely reporting to management.
Banking & Financial Controls
- Manage banking transactions, bank reconciliations, loan documentation, fixed deposits, LC/BG-related documentation, and coordination with banks.
- Ensure proper internal controls for payments, approvals, cash/bank transactions, statutory payments, and financial documentation.
- Review and improve accounting processes, ERP controls, documentation systems, and compliance checklists.
Team Leadership
- Lead and guide the accounts team for daily accounting, compliance, documentation, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Allocate work, monitor deadlines, review team output, and ensure accuracy in all accounts-related activities.
- Train team members on GST, TDS, accounting entries, ERP usage, documentation, and compliance processes.
Management Reporting
- Prepare and present reports to management on financial performance, cash flow, statutory dues, payables, receivables, audit status, and compliance status.
- Highlight financial risks, pending compliances, tax exposures, overdue payments, and process gaps.
- Support management in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and business decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Best preferred qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) with 12 to 18 years of relevant experience in accounts, finance, taxation, audit, and compliance.
- Other acceptable qualifications: CA Inter, CMA, CMA Inter, MBA Finance, or M. Com with strong practical experience of 10 to 16 years in a similar role.
Mandatory Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, income tax, professional tax, accounting standards, statutory audit, tax audit, and finalization of accounts.
- Hands-on experience in GST return filing, GST reconciliation, ITC review, GST notices, and GST query handling.
- Strong experience in vendor payments, payable management, receivable tracking, bank reconciliation, ledger scrutiny, and MIS reporting.
- Good knowledge of ERP/accounting software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, Zoho Books, Busy, or any company ERP.
- Excellent command over MS Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Ability to handle auditors, consultants, government departments, bankers, vendors, and internal departments independently.
- Strong team management, follow-up, documentation, communication, and deadline management skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- The candidate should be mature, responsible, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing the full accounts and finance department.
- The person should have experience working in manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, contracting, trading, or service industries.
- The candidate should be comfortable handling multiple companies/entities, statutory deadlines, audit pressure, and management reporting.
