We're hiring an Account Executive at Valcat.
Here's the thing: there's no traditional interview process. Fu*k resumes.
Instead, you have to close me.
As a prospect.
Here's how it works:
You research Valcat. You figure out who I am. You send me a cold email. You get on a call with me. You listen, you discover, you understand my business. Then you send me a Loom making your case for why you should be our AE.
If you can move me from "who is this?" to "I want to hire you," you're hired.
Because if you can close me-a skeptical founder who knows sales, you can close literally anyone.
Why I'm Doing This
I'm tired of hiring people who interview well but can't sell.
Real sales skill is proven in the field. It's proven when you're cold prospecting someone who doesn't know you. When you're researching before you reach out. When you're handling objections. When you're following up without being pushy. When you're listening instead of pitching.
So instead of asking you to do a sales scenario about a hypothetical company, I'm going to BE the prospect.
What You're Being Graded On
Research depth (did you actually figure out who Valcat is?)
Your methodology (MEDDIC? SPIN? Do you have a framework?)
Communication clarity (can you write a good cold email? Can you speak clearly?)
Discovery skills (on the call, can you actually listen and ask good questions?)
Sales books you've read (which ones? How do they influence how you sell?)
Persistence (if I don't respond immediately, do you follow up?)
Closing ability (can you actually move me from interested to "let's hire you"?)
The Process
Research me. LinkedIn. Valcat website. Posts. Understand what we do. Understand who I am.
Send a cold email to parth@valcat.co (Subject: "AE Application - [Your Name]") showing you did your homework. 150-200 words max.
If I respond, we take a 15-minute call. You discover. You ask questions. You listen.
Send a Loom (5-7 min) recapping what you learned, showing your prospecting process, making your case.
Follow up if needed. This is where real hunters separate from the rest.
No resume. No portfolio. No generic cover letter.
Just real prospecting. Real selling. Real proof.
What You Get If You Close Me
Base salary 12-25LPA
10-20% commission on every deal you close (and there will be plenty) (We pay 2-4x commissions on industry standards)
Remote-friendly. Work from anywhere.
Commission-heavy upside. You close deals, you keep the money.
Signal led leadgen(We are one of the best companies in the world at this) so you can spend time on highest intent prospects and close more.
