Job Title: Accessibility Tester – Canvas LMS (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Employment Type: Full-time (Remote)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accessibility Tester to ensure that our web applications and digital learning platforms are fully accessible and compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in validating accessibility across web interfaces and Canvas LMS-based learning environments, ensuring that digital experiences are inclusive and usable for all users, including individuals with disabilities.
This role requires strong expertise in web accessibility testing, assistive technologies, and accessibility compliance standards, along with the ability to collaborate closely with developers, designers, and QA teams to identify and remediate accessibility barriers.
Key Responsibilities:
Accessibility Testing & Compliance
- Perform comprehensive accessibility testing on websites, web applications, and LMS platforms to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
- Evaluate accessibility of Canvas LMS courses, modules, assessments, and multimedia content.
- Identify accessibility barriers related to keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, ARIA attributes, and semantic HTML.
- Conduct both manual and automated accessibility testing using industry-standard tools.
Web & LMS Testing:
- Validate accessibility for interactive web elements, forms, navigation components, and multimedia content.
- Test learning content within Canvas LMS, ensuring accessibility for quizzes, assignments, discussions, and embedded resources.
- Ensure that course content, documents, and media uploaded to Canvas are accessible to users relying on assistive technologies.
Assistive Technology Testing:
- Test digital content using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and other assistive technologies.
- Validate usability for keyboard-only navigation and alternative input methods.
- Ensure proper focus order, labeling, alt text, and accessible structure across web interfaces.
Issue Reporting & Collaboration:
- Document accessibility issues clearly with severity levels, screenshots, reproduction steps, and WCAG references.
- Work closely with developers, instructional designers, and product teams to resolve accessibility defects.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve accessibility and usability.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with evolving accessibility standards, tools, and best practices.
- Support internal teams in adopting accessible design and development practices.
- Contribute to building accessibility testing checklists and QA frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Web Accessibility Testing.
- Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines.
- Hands-on experience testing Canvas LMS or similar Learning Management Systems.
- Experience with manual accessibility testing and automated accessibility tools.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, ARIA attributes, and semantic web structures.
- Experience using screen readers and assistive technologies for testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EdTech or educational platform testing.
- Knowledge of accessibility testing tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, or ARC Toolkit.
- Understanding of Section 508 compliance standards.
· Experience working in Agile or QA testing environments.
