Role Description The Academic Mentor Primary is a full-time, on-site role for a client based in Chennai. The position involves mentoring primary school learners, supporting their academic progress, and nurturing foundational skills across core subjects. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting engaging learning sessions, providing individual and group academic support, and monitoring student performance through regular assessments and feedback. The Academic Mentor Primary will collaborate with teachers and school leadership to align mentoring strategies with curriculum goals and best practices in primary education. The role also includes maintaining clear documentation of learner progress, communicating with families or guardians as needed, and contributing to the continuous improvement of educational programs and resources.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Cambridge primary-level curriculum and child development, with the ability to simplify concepts for young learners.
- Skills in lesson planning, classroom facilitation, and learner-centered teaching methods.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and school staff.
- Ability to observe, assess, and document learner progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a school environment and adapt to diverse learning needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field; a teaching qualification or relevant certification is an advantage.
- Prior experience in mentoring or teaching primary school students is highly preferred.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education and openness to new pedagogical approaches.
