The Academic Head – Pre-Primary is responsible for leading the academic excellence of the Pre-Nursery, Nursery, LKG, and UKG wings. The role involves curriculum implementation, teacher mentoring, classroom observations, lesson planning, student development, parent engagement, and ensuring a safe, joyful, and child-centric learning environment aligned with the school's vision.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Ensure effective implementation of the pre-primary curriculum across all classes.
- Develop and monitor annual academic plans, monthly planners, and daily lesson plans.
- Introduce innovative, experiential, and play-based learning methodologies.
- Maintain high standards of teaching and learning outcomes.
Teacher Management
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate pre-primary teachers.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Organize teacher training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Monitor teacher performance and support continuous improvement.
Curriculum & Assessment
- Review lesson plans, worksheets, teaching aids, and assessment tools.
- Ensure age-appropriate assessments and comprehensive student progress tracking.
- Maintain curriculum quality in line with NEP 2020 and early childhood education standards.
- Promote activity-based and experiential learning.
Student Development
- Monitor children's academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Identify learning gaps and recommend intervention strategies.
- Ensure an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
- Support the holistic development of every child.
Parent Engagement
- Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and orientation sessions.
- Address parent concerns professionally and proactively.
- Guide parents on children's learning milestones and developmental goals.
- Build strong school-parent partnerships.
Academic Planning & Events
- Plan and oversee celebrations, assemblies, theme-based activities, and educational events.
- Coordinate field trips, competitions, and experiential learning activities.
- Ensure effective execution of the academic calendar.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain academic documentation and compliance records.
- Monitor classroom displays, learning corners, and teaching resources.
- Ensure adherence to school policies, safety standards, and academic benchmarks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the pre-primary wing.
Coordination
- Work closely with the Principal and other department heads.
- Coordinate with admissions, operations, and support staff for smooth academic functioning.
- Participate in strategic planning and school development initiatives.
