Role Description The Academic Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based in Chandigarh, India. The person in this role will guide prospective and current students through academic choices, program selection, and course planning, helping them understand SXILL’s offerings and learning pathways. Daily responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, supporting learners in setting academic and career goals, and providing timely advice on progression, skill development, and industry expectations. The Academic Counsellor will collaborate with faculty and management to track student performance, address academic concerns, and coordinate workshops or information sessions that improve student readiness for professional opportunities. The role also involves maintaining accurate counseling records, responding to inquiries, and contributing to a supportive and inclusive campus culture.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills to support learners in their educational journey.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to conduct clear, empathetic, and professional interactions with students and families.
- Candidates should possess Career Counseling and Education-related expertise to guide students toward suitable career paths and skill development.
- Candidates should ideally have experience in academic institutions, knowledge of creative or design education, and familiarity with modern teaching and learning approaches.
- A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree (e.g., Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field) and proficiency in English; additional local language skills are beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment for all learners.
