Academic Coordinator – Primary School
Job Purpose
The Academic Coordinator is responsible for planning, monitoring, and supporting the academic activities of the primary section to ensure high teaching standards, smooth classroom operations, and strong student learning outcomes. The role acts as a bridge between school leadership, teachers, students, and parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the academic planning and daily functioning of the primary section.
- Monitor curriculum implementation as per school and board requirements.
- Support teachers in lesson planning, classroom delivery, and assessment practices.
- Observe classes and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching quality.
- Track student progress, learning gaps, and academic performance.
- Organise remedial support, enrichment programmes, and revision plans.
- Conduct academic reviews, teacher meetings, and performance discussions.
- Ensure timely preparation of lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and result reports.
- Communicate with parents regarding academic progress, concerns, and improvement plans.
- Maintain academic records and support school reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with school leadership for timetables, events, exams, and academic audits.
- Support teacher training and professional development initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate / postgraduate in education or a related field.
- B.Ed. preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of teaching experience in a primary school.
- Prior experience in academic coordination or middle leadership is preferred.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of primary school curriculum and pedagogy.
- Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to guide and motivate teachers.
- Strong classroom observation and feedback skills.
- Proficiency in academic planning, reporting, and coordination.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office and school ERP systems.
