Position information:

The College of Engineering (CoE) grew rapidly in the number of programs offered, the number of faculty, and the number of students. Today, the College became the largest private engineering college in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with over 3300 students. With a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the College offers the largest and most diverse number of programs for any engineering college in the country. The curricula of our programs are designed according to international standards and best practices in world-class universities. The Bachelor of Architecture program is accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Engineering and IT programs in the College that have already graduated more than one cohort of students have either received or expected to receive in a couple of months, ABET accreditation. Our dedicated faculty are prudently chosen from top engineering schools in North America and Europe. Our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities provide a great environment for student learning. The College has received significant distinctions and awards nationally and internationally. It has MOUs and research collaboration with several international universities and is supported in research by two Centers of Excellence. We provide all means of success to our students and equip them with the necessary values, knowledge, and skill they need to prove themselves in today's highly competitive market.


CoE is currently inviting applications for faculty appointment in Architecture or Architectural Engineering for Fall of Academic Year 2024-2025. Appointment at the level of Assistant Professor is expected based on qualifications and relevant experience. Applicants with experience in environmental and sustainable design are encouraged to apply.


About the Architecture Program:

Since admitting its first cohort in Fall 2009, the Architecture Program at ADU has pioneered architectural education in the region. The 5-year Program is the first and only Indigenous university with a RIBA Validated BArch Program in the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Counties (GCC) region, offering future architects a comprehensive path for RIBA, Part 1. The curriculum promotes a creative approach to interpreting the history and theory of architecture and the cultural context of the GCC and Middle East North Africa (MENA) regions. It develops the technical abilities needed for construction, structures, and the environment today and in the future. It stimulates creative imagination, critical thought, and ethical conduct in architecture, animating the discipline for generations from the visionary to the practical. The ADU Architecture Program adopts the following values as its foundation:

• Enhancing the sustainability and safety of the built environment

• Embracing the ethics of professional practice and business


Faculty Role:

The primary responsibilities of the appointment include teaching, research, and service. The successful candidates will be based in ADU Al Ain Campus and will teach undergraduate architecture studios, lecture courses, and/or seminars/workshops. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of scholarly and creative work within the discipline as per ADU research standards. S/He will report to the Department Chair and Dean and will be committed to college and university service and participate in the growth and development of the College.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in architecture, Urban Design, Planning or Architectural Engineering

• A Ph.D. in Architecture or any related field from a top 200 university according to QS ranking is preferred.

• A proven record of excellent research achievements, demonstrating both quality and impact.

• Prior teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels is highly preferred.

• Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a deep appreciation for the role of scholarship and creative work in architecture, practical experience, entrepreneurship, and an understanding of the university’s role of in economic development.

• Familiarity with the new teaching methods, digital representation, visual communication, along with the ability to prepare students for success in an evolving professional landscape.

Compensation:


Review of applications will begin on May 01st, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. The position will begin on August 25, 2025, and the selected candidate will be expected to begin teaching in fall 2025. Competitive tax-free compensation & benefits package.
