Position: AB Initio Developer
Experience: 3–5 Years
Location: Mumbai
Job Summary
We are looking for a AB Initio Developer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in developing, testing, and supporting ETL solutions using the AB Initio suite. The candidate should be comfortable owning ETL module development independently, working with large-scale data in enterprise environments, and collaborating with data architects and business analysts. Prior exposure to the BFSI/Banking domain will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy ETL graphs and workflows using AB Initio GDE
- Work with AB Initio components parallelism, partitioning, rollup, join, reformat, and transform graphs
- Participate in data mapping, transformation logic design, and source-to-target specification reviews
- Optimize ETL jobs for performance tuning parallelism, memory, and I/O handling
- Work with relational databases write complex SQL queries for data validation and transformation
- Write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for job automation and file handling
- Monitor, schedule, and support production ETL jobs using Control Center and scheduling tools
- Troubleshoot data issues, ETL failures, and performance degradations in production
- Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and QA teams across sprint cycles
- Contribute to technical documentation data flow diagrams, mapping specs, runbooks
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on AB Initio development experience in a production environment
- Strong working knowledge of the AB Initio Suite:
- GDE graph development, components, subgraphs
- Co>Operating System parallelism, DML, configuration
- EME project/object management at developer level
- Control Center job monitoring, scheduling, dependency tracking
- Solid understanding of ETL concepts and Data Warehousing staging, ODS, dimensions, facts
- Strong SQL skills on Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, or DB2 joins, aggregations, query tuning
- Hands-on Unix/Linux shell scripting file handling, automation, cron jobs
- Experience with data transformation, file processing, and handling large volume datasets
- Basic performance tuning of ETL graphs partitioning strategy, parallel execution
- Familiarity with SDLC and Agile/Scrum delivery models
Preferred Skills (Good to have)
BFSI/Banking domain experience understanding of financial data, reconciliation, regulatory reporting
Exposure to Autosys or Control-M for enterprise job scheduling
Awareness of cloud data platforms (AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, or GCP) in an ETL context
Exposure to data quality and reconciliation frameworks
Familiarity with data governance and lineage concepts
