Freelance 3D CAD Designer (Molds & Prototyping)

About the Role
Triage Meditech is looking for a Freelance 3D CAD Designer (Molds & Prototyping) to support the development of innovative healthcare products. The role involves creating precise 3D CAD models, mold designs, and print-ready files for rapid prototyping and product validation using our in-house 3D printing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop 3D CAD models, molds, fixtures, and prototype components based on product requirements.
* Create highly accurate, dimensionally precise designs suitable for 3D printing and prototyping.
* Generate print-ready STL, STEP, and other manufacturing file formats.
* Optimize designs for functionality, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
* Modify and refine designs based on prototype testing and feedback.
* Prepare technical drawings and documentation with dimensions and tolerances where required.
* Collaborate with product development and engineering teams throughout the design process.
Requirements
* Proven experience in 3D CAD design, mold design, and prototyping.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
* Experience preparing files for 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
* Ability to translate concepts, sketches, measurements, or physical samples into accurate CAD models.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
* Experience in medical device, healthcare, consumer products, or industrial product development.
* Knowledge of 3D printing technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Familiarity with injection mold design and tooling is an advantage.
Deliverables
* Editable CAD source files.
* Print-ready STL, STEP, and other required manufacturing files.
* Technical drawings and design documentation.
* Design revisions and support throughout the prototyping process.
