About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled 3D modeller with strong parametric/procedural design capabilities to produce real-time-ready botanical and vegetation assets for a desktop landscape visualisation application. The work involves building parametric models of trees and plants that transition smoothly through sequential growth stages, automating batch exports, and optimizing assets for real-time performance.
Responsibilities:
• Design and build parametric 3D models of trees and vegetation that evolve naturally across sequential growth stages driven by scriptable parameters
• Develop automated pipelines that generate and export sets of glTF/GLB files from parametric setups
• Ensure botanical accuracy and visual plausibility across growth stages from sapling to mature specimen
• Optimize assets for real-time rendering appropriate polygon counts, efficient materials, and minimal file sizes
• Follow strict file naming conventions and asset specifications provided by the development team
• Collaborate with developers on asset integration, performance tuning, and iteration based on in-engine testing
• Create reusable parametric templates that can be adapted across multiple species and variants
Required Skills:
• Parametric/Procedural 3D Modelling proven experience creating models driven by parameters rather than manual sculpting, with smooth transitions across states
• Parametric Toolchain proficiency with Rhino/Grasshopper or equivalent parametric modelling environments that support external parameter control and automated workflows
• Botanical/Organic Modelling experience modelling natural forms such as trees, plants, or other vegetation with realistic branching, foliage, and growth characteristics
• Scripted Batch Export — experience with automated pipelines that generate and export large numbers of 3D files from a single parametric setup
• glTF/GLB Format — solid understanding of the format, including material mapping, mesh structure, and what makes assets perform well in real-time engines
• Real-Time Asset Optimization — experience producing assets for game engines or WebGL viewers, not just offline rendering. Understanding of poly budgets, LOD considerations, and texture efficiency
• PBR Materials — ability to create physically-based materials that translate correctly to real-time renderers
Nice to Have:
• Familiarity with Babylon.js, Three.js, or similar WebGL engines
• Experience with Draco mesh compression for glTF
• Git or version control experience for managing large asset repositories
• Background in generative or algorithmic design
• Experience with landscape architecture or garden design visualisation
