We are currently seeking a 2D Game Developer (Defold) to join one of our trusted partner companies and build high-performance, engaging 2D games for mobile and web platforms.
Job Summary
As a 2D Game Developer specializing in Defold, you will design, develop, and optimize lightweight 2D games using Lua scripting and Defold’s component-based architecture. You will collaborate with designers and artists to rapidly prototype, iterate, and deliver polished gaming experiences.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, values performance optimization, and enjoys building clean, modular game systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy 2D games using the Defold engine
- Implement gameplay systems and mechanics using Lua scripting
- Build modular, maintainable, and performance-focused architectures
- Collaborate closely with designers and artists to refine gameplay and UI
- Optimize builds for smooth performance across mobile and web platforms
- Debug, profile, and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Maintain clean, well-documented, and scalable code
- Contribute creative solutions to technical and gameplay challenges
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience developing and shipping 2D games using Defold
- Strong proficiency in Lua scripting
- Solid understanding of component-based game architecture
- Experience creating lightweight and optimized builds for mobile and web
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in remote teams
- Ability to iterate quickly in agile environments
- Understanding of multi-platform deployment workflows
- Strong attention to detail and passion for polished user experiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-platform deployment and performance tuning
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for game development
- Experience with automated testing frameworks
- Strong portfolio of released 2D games or interactive prototypes
