🎨 We're Hiring: 2D Background Artist | Toony Studios, Hyderabad
Toony Studios is a full-service Animation studio based in Hyderabad, home to original IPs like Funmoji, Meow & Peow and few Unannounced IPs — reaching millions of viewers across Telugu and global audiences. We're growing our 2D Animation team and looking for a talented 2D Background
Artist to help bring our animated worlds to life.
Role Overview As a 2D Background Artist, you'll design and paint the environments and settings that our characters live in — from cozy enchanted forests to comedic sitcom-style interiors — working closely with our art directors and animation team to build rich, consistent visual worlds across multiple shows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, paint, and finalize 2D backgrounds and environments for animated shorts and episodic series
- Maintain visual consistency in color palette, lighting, mood, and perspective across episodes and seasons
- Collaborate with layout artists, art directors, and animators to align backgrounds with each show's established style guide
- Adapt art style across different IPs and audiences (e.g., stylized comedic sets vs. soft fairy-tale environments)
- Prepare clean, production-ready assets that integrate smoothly into the animation pipeline
- Manage multiple background assignments under episodic production deadlines
What We're Looking For
- 1–4 years of professional experience in 2D background art for animation, games, or illustration
- Strong fundamentals in perspective, color theory, lighting, and composition
- Proficiency in Photoshop.
- A portfolio showcasing background/environment art (please include a link when applying)
- Ability to adapt to different art styles and tones across projects
- Good communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative studio pipeline
Nice to Have
- Experience creating backgrounds for kids' content or character-driven cartoons
- Familiarity with the Toon Boom Harmony production pipeline
- A traditional art/painting background alongside digital skills
