Role Overview
We are looking for a creative and technically skilled 2D & 3D Furniture Designer who can conceptualize and develop high-quality carved wooden furniture designs.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in furniture design, 3D modeling, and detailing, along with the ability to transform creative concepts into practical manufacturing-ready designs.
This role requires collaboration with the design and manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are both aesthetically appealing and technically feasible for carved wood production.
Key ResponsibilitiesFurniture Design & Concept Development
- Develop original furniture concepts focusing on carved wooden furniture including tables, cabinets, beds, consoles, chairs, and decorative pieces.
- Create design concepts that combine traditional carving techniques with modern aesthetics.
- Research furniture trends, materials, and craftsmanship techniques to develop innovative designs.
2D Design & Technical Drawings
- Create detailed 2D drawings and technical layouts for furniture components and structures.
- Prepare accurate dimension drawings and technical documentation required for manufacturing.
3D Modeling & Visualization
- Develop high-quality 3D models of furniture designs for visualization and product development.
- Produce rendered images and presentations to showcase the final product design.
Collaboration with Manufacturing Team
- Work closely with the manufacturing and carving teams to ensure designs are feasible for production.
- Provide guidance on materials, carving patterns, structural design, and finishing techniques.
Design Documentation & Improvements
- Maintain organized documentation of design files, models, and revisions.
- Continuously improve designs based on feedback from production teams and market demand.
Required Skills & ExpertiseTechnical Skills
- Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools such as:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- 3ds Max
- Rhino / SolidWorks / Blender (any relevant software)
- Ability to create realistic 3D furniture models and renders.
Design Knowledge
- Strong understanding of furniture proportions, materials, joinery, and structural design.
- Knowledge of woodworking and carved furniture design principles is highly preferred.
Communication & Collaboration
- Good English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, production teams, and management.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's or Diploma in Furniture Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
- 1–5 years of experience in furniture design or related fields.
- Experience working with wood furniture or carved furniture design will be an advantage.
