The 2029 Canada Games in Moncton and Saint John will bring together thousands of athletes,
coaches, officials, volunteers, and visitors from across the country to celebrate sport, culture,
and community. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation event that
will leave a lasting legacy for New Brunswick and Canada.
The 2029 Canada Games Host Society is seeking an experienced, creative, and strategic leader
to serve as Director of Marketing, Communications & Partnerships. This position will play a
critical role in building awareness, engagement, excitement, and support for the Games while
ensuring a consistent and compelling brand experience for athletes, spectators, partners,
volunteers, and communities throughout New Brunswick.
Position Overview
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Marketing, Communications &
Partnerships provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all marketing,
communications, brand management, community engagement, ticketing, merchandise, and
partnership activation activities related to the 2029 Canada Games.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive
marketing and communications strategies that promote the Games, strengthen stakeholder
relationships, support partner activation objectives, and engage communities across New
Brunswick and Canada.
Working closely with the Canada Games Council, host municipalities, government partners,
media organizations, sponsors, and internal functional areas, the Director will help build
excitement, drive participation, enhance visibility, and ensure the successful delivery of the
Host Society's communications and engagement objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Brand Management
- Develop and implement the overall marketing strategy for the 2029 Canada Games.
- Lead the development, implementation, and stewardship of the Games brand.
- Ensure consistent application of brand standards across all platforms, venues, materials,
and stakeholder groups.
- Oversee advertising campaigns, promotional initiatives, and audience engagement
strategies.
- Coordinate brand integration across Games operations and experiences.
Communications and Media Relations
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy.
- Serve as the primary lead for public relations and media engagement.
- Oversee media relations, press conferences, announcements, and media accreditation
planning.
- Develop key messages, communications plans, and stakeholder communications.
- Manage crisis communications planning and response activities.
- Ensure consistent and timely communications with athletes, volunteers, partners,
governments, media, and the public.
Digital and Content Strategy
- Oversee the Games website, social media channels, digital campaigns, and content
creation strategies.
- Lead development of engaging digital storytelling initiatives.
- Manage content calendars, digital engagement metrics, and audience growth strategies.
- Ensure alignment between digital platforms and overall marketing objectives.
Partnerships and Activation
- Support the development and implementation of partnership activation strategies.
- Work closely with the CEO and Revenue Generation Committee to ensure sponsors and
partners receive exceptional value and visibility.
- Lead fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and activation opportunities.
- Develop partner recognition programs and engagement initiatives.
- Support relationship management activities with corporate, community, and
government partners.
Community Engagement, Ticketing and Merchandise
- Lead community engagement initiatives across New Brunswick.
- Support the development and implementation of ticketing marketing strategies.
- Oversee Games merchandise branding and promotional activities.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to maximize public participation and attendance.
- Develop initiatives that build awareness and excitement leading up to the Games.
Leadership and Team Management
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and support staff, contractors, and volunteers within the
Marketing, Communications & Partnerships portfolio.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
- Ensure effective workforce planning and volunteer engagement.
- Manage agencies, consultants, vendors, and service providers as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sport, Venues, Athlete Experience, Ceremonies, Volunteer Services,
Technology, and other functional areas.
- Ensure marketing and communications initiatives are integrated across all Games
operations.
- Support organizational planning, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making
processes.
- Collaborate with municipalities, tourism organizations, and community partners to
promote the Games and New Brunswick.
Financial and Operational Management
- Develop and manage operational budgets within the Marketing, Communications &
Partnerships portfolio.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure responsible financial stewardship.
- Manage contracts, procurement, and vendor relationships related to marketing and
communications activities.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with Canada Games Council standards and Host Society policies.
Legacy and Community Impact
- Support initiatives that strengthen community pride, volunteer engagement, sport
participation, and economic impact.
- Promote sustainability, accessibility, official languages, diversity, equity, inclusion, and
Indigenous engagement through communications and marketing activities.
- Help ensure the Games leave a meaningful and lasting legacy for New Brunswick.
